Concrete Calculator

Concrete Calculator

Estimate concrete volume with a practical waste allowance in US or metric units.

UNDERSTAND THE ANSWER

How is this calculated?

US inputs use feet for length and width and inches for depth. Metric inputs use meters and centimeters. The result includes the selected waste allowance.

Rectangular concrete volumeVolume = Length × Width × Depth × (1 + Waste %)

A practical example

A 20 × 12 ft slab that is 4 inches deep has a base volume of about 2.96 cubic yards before waste.

Assumptions, interpretation and common mistakes

Calculation assumptions

  • The slab is a rectangular prism with uniform depth.
  • US depth is entered in inches; metric depth is entered in centimeters.
  • The selected waste percentage is added to geometric volume.

How to interpret the result

  • Concrete to order includes the waste allowance.
  • Both cubic yards and cubic meters are shown for supplier comparison.
  • Base volume excludes waste and should not be the final order quantity.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Entering inches as feet or centimeters as meters.
  • Using nominal excavation depth when the subgrade is uneven.
  • Rounding down or ignoring supplier minimum-order increments.
