Convert hourly, daily, weekly, biweekly, semimonthly, monthly or annual pay into comparable gross amounts.

UNDERSTAND THE ANSWER

How is this calculated?

Hourly, daily, weekly and biweekly inputs use paid weeks; biweekly means two paid weeks. Annual, monthly and semimonthly inputs represent 1, 12 and 24 calendar payments. Estimated deductions use one flat rate, not a payroll tax engine. No overtime or benefits are included.

Normalize pay to annual grossAnnual = entered pay × periods per year; hourly = annual / (paid weeks × weekly hours)

A practical example

62,400 per year at 40 hours per week and 52 paid weeks equals 30 per hour. Semimonthly gross is 2,600; two paid weeks equal 2,400.

Assumptions, interpretation and common mistakes

Calculation assumptions

  • Pay is normalized using the selected pay basis.
  • Hourly, daily, weekly and biweekly inputs depend on paid weeks; annual, monthly and semimonthly inputs use calendar periods.
  • The tax and deduction percentage is one simplified blended estimate.

How to interpret the result

  • Annual gross is pay before any deductions.
  • Monthly gross divides annual income by 12 and may not match an actual pay period.
  • Estimated take-home is useful for rough budgeting, not payroll or tax filing.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Using 52 weeks despite unpaid time off or seasonal downtime.
  • Ignoring overtime premiums, bonuses, commissions or employer benefits.
  • Treating a flat deduction estimate as an exact tax calculation.
